Veterans Engineering has been awarded a fixed price contract with NOAA for a packet capturing system solution.

October 5, 2013 -- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) contract—GS-35F-0620Y—was awarded for a packet capturing system solution. The contract includes product support & maintenance and professional services.

NOAA required a solution that allowed for an enterprise-level network capture infrastructure capable of investigating, alerting towards zero-day, botnets, malware and other intrusion activities, and incident reporting in real time.

The solution needed to provide support for e-discovery, criminal and HR investigations.

To assist technicians, the solution needed to perform security analytics and visibility within a unified console; profiling data movement with full access to all events; and content surrounding suspicious activity, which could be utilized to build a profile for both a computer and user to identify insider threats.

VE shares win in GSA $150 million BPA contract

A blanket purchase agreement (BPA) contract for Information Technology and Development Services (ITDS) has been awarded by General Services Administration (GSA), Public Building Services (PBS) Chief Information Officer (CIO). The prime is NCI. The ITDS BPA has a ceiling value of $150 million with a five-year performance period. It is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) multiple-award contract vehicle that may be used across GSA, focusing primarily on the PBS Central Office and the 11 GSA regions. Since this contract award, NCI has won three multi-year task orders under the BPA totaling $3.7 million.

The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Commodity Enterprise Contract (CEC) is a five-year, $5 billion multiple award contract.  It provides an enterprise contractual solution for the VA.

The Navy has awarded incumbent vendor Hewlett Packard a potential five-year, $3.5 billion contract to develop what will be the world’s largest private computer network.

Called the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN), the project will replace the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), a contractor-owned and operated network serving 800,000 Navy and Marine Corps personnel. NGEN will serve roughly the same number of personnel in both services, both in the U.S. and foreign locations.

For the Navy, the new network will be government-owned and contractor-operated, while the Marine Corps will have a government-owned and government-operated model with contractor support. The Marine Corps wanted the ability to travel with the physical components of its network and preferred running the network itself, said Bill Toti, vice president and account executive for HP’s Navy & Marine Corps accounts.

Maintenance and Operational Support of NRC Application System contract Veterans Engineering has been selected to support the MOMS contract. The purpose of this acquisition is to obtain maintenance and operational support services for an estimated 100 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) application systems and information technology (IT) environments, as well as modernization support and documentation support through fiscal year (FY) 2021 at an estimated cost of $237 million.

It is expected as the legacy systems are retired over the course of this new acquisition, the need for services under the unrestricted full and open competition areas will decrease. In addition, over time, as NRC modernizes its systems, the need for legacy modernization, software application development and maintenance of modernized systems services in the SBSA functional areas will grow.

Veterans Engineering has been selected to support the Integrated Source Management Portfolio Program for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Lockheed Martin selected Veterans Engineering to provide staffing support for automated tools to support the housing and maintenance of information on civilian licensees of radioactive materials. The $77.4 million contract is also for the tools supporting the maintenance of nationally tracked radioactive materials possessed by licensees and licensee transactions.

When deploying VoIP solutions, VE is responsible for infrastructure integrity and availability for mixed ISDN/VoIP/Ethernet customers. The Administration Cisco Unity voicemail servers and the associated hardware/appliance components that come with as well as operate and maintain voice infrastructure which includes vendor and security patching. Ensure compliance with customer and associated vendor security and operability best practices. VE also interoperates with server, transport, and telecommunications teammates to ensure a seamless client experience. If necessary, VE can provide engineering recommendations for infrastructure optimization, upgrades, and enhancements as mentioned below and can evaluate customer requirements and develop solutions to address both short and long term client needs.

Veterans Engineering and Professional Services has the ability to design, implement, monitor, maintain, operate and upgrade, essentially handling the overall administration of VoIP systems throughout the United States. The capability to perform these tasks comes from having a certified recruitment and Project Management staff in place to attract and retain equipment specific certified engineers and technicians on a national basis.

Currently VE is overseeing the staff for a VoIP implementation for an international financial firm. This implementation covers the configuration, staging, installation, and post installation user support of over 20,000 users in Washington DC, 12k users in NYC and 12K users in Los Angeles. In addition VE works with VARS to offer field services, so that these VARS can offer installation services for the product after its sale. VE has been deploying VoIP solutions throughout the United States with this model.
